Trickster’s Journey is a reinterpretation of the major arcana, drawing from the 16th century Chinese classic Journey to the West and Tang dynasty aesthetics, to tell the story of the Monkey King’s path to enlightenment. This deck was first published through the Copy Shop Residency at Endless Editions.

The journeys represented in both Journey to the West and the structure of the tarot closely mirror each other: the respective protagonist figures of the Fool and the Monkey undergo a rich sequence of experiences, struggle, ego death, wanderings and wonderings that lead them to revelation and completion. Trickster’s Journey engages in a series of translations based on these parallel arcs.
